Guide for Parents and Guardians of Admitted Students
Congratulations! The support you have provided your student through the years has earned them a place at one of the world’s finest research universities. Please enjoy a few words of welcome and congratulations from UC Santa Cruz Chancellor George Blumenthal.
Your student can log in to the student portal, my.ucsc.edu. All applicants were provided a seven-digit UCSC user name and password on a bright pink sheet of paper when they were originally sent their acknowledgment letter in the mail. After logging in to the portal, your student should go to "Application Status" and click on "View Status."
In the student portal, my.ucsc.edu, your student should click on the link "Now that I’m Admitted, What's Next?" From there, your student will be directed to the seven-step online process for accepting the offer of admission. To view the steps in the acceptance process, go to:

The firm deadline for accepting the offer of admission is 11:59:59 p.m. on May 1 for freshmen and June 1 for transfer students. Please encourage your student to accept the offer as soon as they have all the required information, and well before the deadline.
Once your student has accepted the offer of admission, please encourage them to continue checking the portal regularly for important information from the campus, including any "To Do" items that may be listed. Meeting the conditions of admission, as well as any financial aid and housing deadlines, is critical and ensures your student's continued status as an admitted student to the campus. Yes! UC Santa Cruz Orientation Programs is where students begin their college careers and ensure their successful academic and social transition into the UC Santa Cruz community.
Orientation introduces UC Santa Cruz students and their parents or guardians to a wide range of learning opportunities outside the classroom: leadership development, extracurricular activities, student organizations, community service, recreational classes, and more. In addition, students receive academic advising to help prepare for the coming year with recommendations for courses of study and the opportunity to enroll in classes.
Admission decisions are based primarily on self-reported information your student has provided on the application. Students are admitted provisionally with certain conditions they must meet to ensure their admission remains intact. Note: some students may have additional conditions to those shown here.

"Spring Spotlight" is designed for admitted students and their parents or guardians to introduce them to the campus and determine if UCSC is right for them. The program includes daily student-led walking tours, providing an overview of the academic, residential, and student-life experience at UCSC. You’ll be able to see the colleges (including viewing dorm and apartment rooms), attend presentations, and visit classrooms.
Campus tours are also available to the general public.
Know that you can and are helping your student by just being informed about UC Santa Cruz and the admission process. If admitted, encourage your student to check the my.ucsc.edu portal regularly for updates and messages from the campus and to meet their conditions of admission and all required campus deadlines. If not admitted, encourage your student to seek alternative educational opportunities and to use the information provided on our web site to learn about future options for enrollment at UC Santa Cruz.
