David Kamimoto, Associate Director of Admissions, UCSC Transfer Preparation Program

As we begin another fall outreach season, we recommit ourselves to our work with prospective transfer students. Unfortunately, we cannot visit as many California community colleges as we might like, but we do have an assigned liaison for each of the 113 campuses. You and your students may contact your representative if you have any questions throughout the year!

Our Transfer Preparation Program (TPP) continues to grow, and we invite California community college students to engage with us. Although we are not always able to meet face to face with each student, we have been successful in providing advice and guidance via e-mail, telephone, and our Friday Skype sessions. In order to be a part of TPP, students must open a UC TAP account and check the UCSC Transfer Preparation Program box. We ask the student to e-mail us at transfer@ucsc.edu, and this will begin a dialogue with one of our Admissions representatives. TPP students are able to receive enhanced service that includes a preliminary review of their academic progress based on the information provided in UC TAP. Students will also be able to call or e-mail a TPP representative directly whenever they have questions.

Our Transfer Information Sessions continue to be popular, with record attendance by prospective students this past summer. We will offer them throughout the year based on demand. Students may register for a session to learn about transfer requirements and selection criteria used to admit applicants to our campus. This is especially important for students pursuing selective majors, which require completion of specific prerequisites before being admitted to UCSC.

Christina Sandoval-Paquette

I’m happy to share that Christina Sandoval-Paquette has joined the Admissions staff as a Transfer Preparation Program Outreach Representative. A UCSC graduate, Christina was a transfer student from Southwestern College, and comes back to us after working for several years as an Engineering advisor at UC San Diego. She joins Monica Galvan, Senior Transfer Preparation Program Outreach Representative, along with our Admissions Representatives and Evaluators, who all provide direct service to transfer students. Christina can be reached at (831) 459-4167 or cgsandov@ucsc.edu.

Campus Articulation Officer Barbara Love continues her annual articulation work while preparing for the transition to ASSIST: The Next Generation. Articulation remains crucial for our work with transfer students, and we strive to provide as much information as possible for all who guide them.

Our entire staff looks forward to our continued work with you and your students!
