Orientation

After a successful program last year, UCSC's Summer Orientation is again offering an overnight option for incoming frosh this year.

Freshmen have two options to participate in an on-campus orientation (July 19, 20, 23, 24-26, 25, 27).

  • One-day program: This program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A separate family program also runs at the same time.
  • Three-day, two-night event: Overnight accommodations are provided for the students as part of the program. Family members can join this program on the last day.

Transfer students attend the on-campus Transfer Day one-day program (July 22).

The registration deadline for Summer Orientation was June 4, and students registered through their portal, my.ucsc.edu.

While at Orientation, students have the opportunity to select and enroll in classes. They also receive advising, tour the campus, and learn about campus resources such as learning support services, safety resources, the Health Center, financial aid, the Ethnic Resource Centers, college and university housing, student groups, and Career Services. They are also able to take their student ID picture and connect with students and staff who will assist them in their academic and personal endeavors. It is an expectation that all new students attend Orientation.

For further information, please see Campus Orientation Programs's web site (see link below), which includes information on schedules, fees, and policies, as well as helpful "getting started" guides for frosh and transfers and links to advising pages.
