Admitted Student Tours Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is covered in Admitted Student Tours?

Admitted Student Tours is an exclusive opportunity for newly admitted students to learn about UCSC research, student engagement, the residential colleges, housing options, financial aid and take a campus tour.

WEEKDAYS: We offer four admitted student tours per weekday with start times from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Each session consists of a 30-minute UCSC presentation and then a campus walking tour that lasts one hour and 30 minutes. Total time: 2 hours.

Families should plan to arrive on campus 45 minutes prior to their session start time in order to park and be transported to the campus tour launch location and check in for their session.

WEEKENDS: On April 6 and April 13, we offer tours at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Each tour consists of a campus walking tour that lasts one hour and 30 minutes. Total time: 1.5 hours.

Families should plan to arrive on campus 45 minutes prior to their session start time in order to park and be transported to the campus tour launch location. We will also offer a campus resource fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends at Quarry Plaza.

The resource fair includes representatives from the academic divisions, student support services, university housing, dining services, student organizations, advising, and many others. We encourage guests to arrive early or plan to stay after their tour time to take full advantage of the campus resource fair.

Q: Do I need to make reservations for Admitted Student Tours?

In order to give our guests the best possible experience, we have limited our tour size, so you will need to make reservations on this website. Please note that Admitted Student Tours are limited to students admitted for the coming fall and their guests.

Q: I am an admitted student, but the session date/time I am interested in attending is full. I am still planning on visiting campus. What can I do?

If the campus tour session is full, you are welcome to come to campus and sign up to be a walk-on guest.

If you are not planning to tour our campus, we encourage you to visit campus and take advantage of our many Campus Visit Opportunities.

All newly admitted students and their guests are welcome to participate in the Admitted Student Resource Fair, our College Information Sessions, Financial Aid Advising, and the Arts Open House.

If you have not yet applied to UCSC, please schedule a regular campus tour after April 19.

Q: If I don’t have a reservation, what is the likelihood I’ll be accommodated for a tour?

We encourage reservations, but welcome our walk-on guests. We always do our best to accommodate our guests on one of our tours.

Q: I am an admitted student for fall 2019, but I can't make it to the campus April 6-19. What should I do?

We encourage you to join us online for Admitted Student Chats. Check the Virtual Events Site for more information. We'll have opportunities to participate in video and text chats with a variety of UCSC representatives!

You are also welcome to sign up for a regular campus tour at another time. Use the online campus tour reservation site. Student-led tours are offered every weekday.

Q: I am an admitted student for fall 2019, but I'm having trouble logging on to the site. What should I do?

All admitted students should be able to log on to the site. However, there may be a lag in our data or some other question about your admission status. If you are an admitted student and still can't log onto the site, please email the Help Desk. Please be sure to include your full name and UC Application ID number.

Q: What should I wear?

Because the Admitted Student Tours are all walking tours with moderate to rigorous hills and stairs, you should wear comfortable walking shoes. If you have any concerns regarding mobility issues, please be in touch with our Campus Visits Office, (831) 459-4118 or visits@ucsc.edu, 7–10 business days prior to your visit so we may make appropriate arrangements for your tour or answer any questions you may have.

Santa Cruz weather is subject to change from sunny and warm to foggy and chilly throughout the year, and often within the same day. We recommend dressing in layers. Weather Forecast
