Admitted Student Tours Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is covered in Admitted Student Tours?

A: "Admitted Student Tours" is an exclusive opportunity for newly admitted students to learn about UCSC research, student engagement, the residential colleges, housing options, and financial aid and take a campus tour.

WEEKDAYS: We offer six admitted student tours per weekday with start times from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each session consists of a 30-minute UCSC presentation and then a campus walking tour that lasts one hour and 30 minutes.

Total time: 2 hours.

Families should plan to arrive on campus 30 minutes prior to their session start time in order to park and be transported to the campus tour launch location and check in for their session.

WEEKENDS: On Saturdays, April 7 and April 14, we offer three sessions at 10 a.m., 12 noon, and 2 p.m. for all students.

Each weekend session consists of a 30-minute Admissions "Next Steps" presentation and then a campus walking tour that lasts one hour and 30 minutes.

Total time: 2 hours.

Families should plan to arrive on campus 30 minutes prior to their session start time in order to park and be transported to the campus tour launch location. We will also offer a campus resource fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekends. The resource fair includes representatives from the academic divisions, student support services, University Housing and Dining Services, Student Organizations and Advising, and many others. We encourage guests for the 2 p.m. session to arrive early in order to take full advantage of the campus resource fair.

Q: Do I need to make reservations for "Admitted Student Tours?"

A: In order to give our guests the best possible experience, we have limited our tour size, so you will need to make reservations on this website. Please note that "Admitted Student Tours" are limited to admitted students for the coming fall and their guests.

Q: I am an admitted student, but the session date/time I am interested in attending is full. I am still planning on visiting campus. What can I do?

A: If the campus tour session is full, you are welcome to come to campus and sign up to be on our “standby” list for the campus tour.

“Standby” is not a guarantee of a tour. Please note “stand by” reservations are available only for tours taking place that day. You must be physically present to register as a stand by guest. No phone or Internet stand by reservations are allowed.

Even if you do not have an Admitted Student Tour reservation, we do encourage you to visit campus. You are welcome to take advantage of our many Campus Visit Opportunities.

Additionally, all newly admitted students and their guests are welcome to sit in on the UCSC presentation and receive valuable handouts on the Residential Colleges, Financial Aid, and Important Dates and Deadlines.

Note: We are unable to accommodate students who have not yet applied to UCSC during any Admitted Student Tour session. If you have not yet applied to UCSC, please schedule a regular campus tour after April 14.

Q: I am planning on being “standby” for an Admitted Student Tour session. What is the likelihood I’ll be accommodated?

A: “Standby” reservations are taken on session-by-session bases. In case of cancellations or no-shows, we will do our best to accommodate guests off of the standby list.

If we are unable to accommodate you on the first session you signed up to be “standby” for, we will put your name at the top of the list of the next session. Your flexibility and patience are greatly appreciated.

If you are an admitted student and still can't log onto the site, please email the Help Desk. Please be sure to include your full name and UC Application ID number.
