Sandra Faber

Professor Faber is well known for having helped discover the Great Attractor, a massive supercluster of galaxies. She also designed the Deep Extragalactic Imaging Multi-Object Spectrograph (DEIMOS), which can read high-quality spectra from over 100 galaxies at once. In 2009, Professor Faber received the Bower Award and Prize for Achievement in Science from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, which includes a gold medal and a cash prize of $250,000.
