Group Tours

A Message to Groups Planning to Tour Campus During Spring 2021

In light of the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, Undergraduate Admissions is following our campus directive, effective March 10, 2020, to suspend any activities that will result in a gathering of 50 or more people. This includes Admitted Student Tours, Banana Slug Day, regular campus tours, and group tours. As an alternative, we recommend our Virtual Tour, hosted by our student tour guides.

There is currently no official date for the resumption of campus tours. The health and safety of our visitors and of our campus community is our top priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Let our student guides introduce you and your group to the University of California, Santa Cruz! We welcome groups of at least six students plus their chaperones from community colleges, high schools, middle schools, and community organizations.

UC Santa Cruz is located on California's Central Coast overlooking the beautiful Monterey Bay. Our student-led tours provide a vigorous, 90-minute all-walking tour of our campus. The tour covers each of the following academic areas:

  • Arts
  • Humanities
  • Social Sciences
  • Physical and Biological Sciences
  • Jack Baskin School of Engineering

In addition to academic information, the guides will share information about undergraduate research opportunities, student engagement and organizations, athletics, and student support services at UC Santa Cruz.

We look forward to providing your students with the best possible college visit.

You may want to also request:

  • An admissions video presentation - a video presentation followed by a question & answer period with an admissions representative. Please add thirty minutes to your tour, if requested.  Note:  This offering is available for groups of fifty or fewer students.  If your group exceeds fifty students, please request the video link.

  • A student panel - For groups of thirty-two of more, current UC Santa Cruz students will be available to answer your students' questions. Please add an additional 30 minutes at the beginning of your tour, if requested.

  • Lunch on campus - While UC Santa Cruz is unable to provide funding for lunches, many groups choose to dine on campus in one of our five dining halls. If your group is interested in dining on campus, lunch arrangements can be made directly with Dining Services at

In order to request a campus tour, please fill out and submit the group tour request form. We offer two campus group tours most weekdays, Monday through Friday, at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

In March and April, group tours are capped at fifty students.

This site is for requests only. Please do not make other arrangements for your trip until you have been notified of approval.

Student guides are not available for group tours on weekends, academic holidays, or campus closure periods.
